Earth & Sky Homepage The Earth & Sky web site offers a number of features. The
Earth & Sky daily show is available on the Radio or from the web site in
Real Player format, they broadcast a new show daily on a variety of
science topics. Other features available include, in-depth articles,
"Tonight's Sky" a daily observing guide with images & text, a teachers
lounge, kids section has articles, activities, and links for kids, and a Q
& A section, and a section called "Scientist profiles", which introduces
various scientists.

Genesis Mission for Kids NASA web site for kids that
teaches kids about the Genesis mission. The Genesis spacecraft was
launched on August 8, 2001, on board a Boeing Delta II rocket. It's

Kids Cosmos Educational
web site created by amateur astronomers, teachers, and parents. The goal
of Kids Cosmos is to bring astronomy to the classroom. The "Field Trip to
Mars" is a virtual tour to provide a comparison of Earth to Mars. This
program was featured at the 1999 Astronomical League convention. Other
features of the site include a glossary, and a tour of the Solar System,
"Ask the scientist", planetary scavenger hunt, prominent women in
astronomy, Space exploration, stars, galaxies, comets, asteroids, basic
astronomy with a brief history of astronomy, and monthly star charts. The
web site uses text, images, and Java applets to explain measurements.

from Florida Sate University, focusing on optics and light. View the Milky Way at 10

Earth in successive orders of magnitude. Very engaging web site. Site also

Satellite Tracking Guide NASA Web site From NASA

Science News for Kids Educational and fun

Sky Calls Sky Calls is a new educational program offered by the
creators of "Thursday's Classroom", and NASA. This is a wonderful program
for educators, home school students, and in traditional school classes.
Each week you will receive educational materials based on the latest news
in science and astronomy. The materials are suitable for 4th through 8th
grade.
Sky Puppies Sky Puppies
is a new observing program for children offered by the Astronomical
League. It is for children 10 years of age or younger. It provides a young
stargazer the opportunity to develop basic observing skills. The
participant or their parent must be a member of the A.L. to participate.

A View from the Back of the
Envelope A superb web site provided by Mitchell Charity
which provides lessons in approximation and math concepts. Just a few of
the topics include Counting by Powers of Ten, How to Simplify a Number,
Fermi Questions, Scaling the Universe to your Desktop, and a Body Ruler.
This is a very engaging web site for any grade level that will help with
your math quandaries. Links to related resources are included.
Abrams Planetarium Skywatchers Diary Online
monthly sky watchers diary, lets you know what to observe and viewing
tips.
All-Sky Panorama An interesting site created by Axel
Mellinger for all ages. Features a "virtual reality" view of our Milky way
Galaxy. Requires Java support to view. This project took Mr. Mellinger 3
years to acquire images to complete the program. Very interesting and
entertaining, just click your mouse to view the entire panorama, or in
fixed increments.
Amateur Astronomy Foundation Online courses web site offering a basic Astronomy course online. This is a
non-accredited course offering intended for educational and informational
purposes. Contents offer two levels; Certificate level provides a basic
introduction to Astronomy in two modules. The Diploma level provides more
advanced topics divided into 5 modules.

Telescope Institute Web site from
Space Telescope Institute, engaging site with interactive activities,

An Atlas of the Universe There are nine
main maps on this web page, each one approximately ten times the scale of
the previous one. The first map shows the nearest stars, then the other
maps slowly expand out until they reach the scale of the entire visible
universe. Nice tool to visualize and comprehend how small our local galaxy
is. Similar to the discussion and images on the size of our Universe in
Terence Dickinson's book "Nightwatch".

This is an
online version of the wonderful book "Cosmic View : The Universe in 40
Jumps" by Kees Boeke originally published in 1957. The web site was
compiled by Mitchell Charity. This classic book teaches the reader about
learning the scale of things using text and images. It contains the entire

Cosmos in the Computer Interesting web

Science Eric is
a brilliant Astronomer and has spent several years developing his Internet

His web site provides an online encyclopedia for Astronomy, Chemistry,

Edison, and Benjamin Franklin. The web site offers numerous link to

Exploration of the Earth's Magnetosphere An
educational web site by Dr. David P. Stern and Mauricio Peredo. Topics
include Magnetism, Electrons, Ions, Plasma, Radiation Belts, the Sun and

Exploring Planets in the Classroom The web site from the
University of Hawaii provides more than 25 hands-on science activities.
They are provided in classroom-ready pages for both teachers and
students for exploring Earth, the planets, geology, and space sciences.

FUSE (Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer satellite) Web site and public
outreach program from the FUSE mission. FUSE looks at light in the far
ultraviolet portion of the electromagnetic spectrum (approximately 90 to
120 nanometers), which is unobservable with other telescopes. The FUSE
satellite was launched on June 24, 1999 on board a Boeing Delta-II launch
vehicle. The FUSE web site provides mission overview, science & technology

Multiwavelength Milky Way
NASA web site that discusses imaging the

Nature of the Universe A wonderful
enlightening tutorial from the University of Hong Kong Department of

NASA Education

web site is a wonderful resource for students, educators, and the general
public. Programs are available for Elementary, and Secondary levels, and
informal programs. Students and educators are able to study Earth,
exploring the universe and the planets using current data, and conducting

Virtual Observatory NASA/HEASARC web site
that is linked to the 2MASS All-Sky Data. Several interfaces available to
access the data: Non-astronomers, Basic, Advanced, JAVA, and customized
searches. Help tutorial and many related links are provided.
SOHO
Satellite Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, SOHO was launched on 12/2/1995. SOHO's mission
is to study the internal structure of the Sun, its extensive outer
atmosphere and the origin of the solar wind, the stream of highly ionized
gas that blows continuously outward through the Solar System. The SOHO
spacecraft contains a wide array of instruments including the CDS (Coronal
Diagnostic Spectrometer), EIT (Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope),
LASCO (Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph), and the UVCS

Landsat-7 Teachers Guide Informative web site from NASA
for middle school-HS grade level. Provides activities and information
about the Landsat-7 satellite for the classroom. Landsat-7 was launched in
1999. The satellite is an Earth observing satellite that monitors
deforestation, sea level rise, droughts, famines, destruction of natural
habitats, and urbanization. Teaches students about satellite structure,
image interpretation, satellite orbits, and measuring reflectance of
ground materials ( reflectance spectrometer). Some additional links
