Astrobiology
Astrobiology combines the sciences of biology, chemistry, palaeontology,
geology, atmospheric physics, planetary science, astrophysics and
cosmology in the study of the origin, evolution and distribution of life
in the universe and the future of life both on earth and beyond.
Astrobiology Web Internet guide to links on the origin, evolution, and distribution of life
in the Universe as well as all other aspects of space exploration.
Extensive links, images, and news.
Kepler
Mission The Kepler Mission is a NASA mission scheduled for
launch sometime in 2008. The Kepler spacecraft is under development to
search for Earth sized planets around stars beyond our solar system. The
Kepler spacecraft will use a spaceborne photometer which will enable
scientists to study the structure & diversity of other planetary
systems in the habitable zone of our galaxy. The Kepler web site provides
an overview of the mission, images & diagrams of the Kepler satellite,
scientific goals, and numerous links to related web sites and resources.
NASA Astrobiology and
the Roadmap Web site provided
by NASA topics included: Habitable Planets, Life in our Solar system,
Origins of Life, Earth's early biosphere, Foundations of complex life, and
Effects of extraterrestrial events upon the biosphere.
NASA
Astrobiology Institute The NASA
Astrobiology Institute was established in 1998 to carry out collaborative
research and education in astrobiology. The website provides an overview
of the research teams currently over 700 researchers in the US and several
International partnerships. The website features information for
scientists, educators and the general public. Topics: NAI groups,
Astrobiology news, NAI teams, Funding, teacher workshops and projects,
student activities, Ask an Astrobiologist, and current NAI events and
workshops. Links to several related sites and information is also
available.
